Helen was born in Leicester and educated in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. She is a
self taught artist, having painted most of her life. Her work over the years has
covered a variety of subjects from landscapes, portraits of children and animals

One client commissioned Helen to portray a coal miner in charcoal, which proved quite tricky as the starting point was a faded photograph from a shred of newspaper! Having an interest in flying with close family connections, it was whilst taking a few helicopter flying lessons that Helen agreed to paint a vintage Bell 47 helicopter flying over Ullswater in the Lake District.
It was whilst completing this picture that she was inspired to develop her skills by painting both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. An aircraft owner friend saw the finished helicopter painting and promptly commissioned Helen to complete a picture of his aeroplane depicted flying over Guernsey.
This has been followed by the Royal Navy Sea King for 849 Squadron, and more recently she has completed a painting of an Apache helicopter from 4 Regiment, Army Air Corps, which are continuing to see successful action in Afghanistan.
In all her paintings she applies a great attention to detail, and in this area, she found the Bell 47 particularly tricky, due to it's somewhat basic construction, and this took many hours of painstaking work to complete.
